National Shrine
The Shrine of St Boniface
There has been a Catholic mission in Crediton since 1914 and from a small community of 14 souls the parish has grown into a thriving community.
The Church houses the National Shrine of St. Boniface; we have a first class relic of St Boniface set into the floor of the shrine (a part of his vertebrae), given to us by the Bishop of Fulda. This attracts many pilgrims and visitors from our sister Churches in Germany and Holland. St Boniface is the evangelist of Germany because he led a huge Anglo-Saxon mission sponsored by Pope Gregory II and King Ina of Wessex.
To all who are weary and need rest, to all who are friendly and desire friendship, to all who believe in God and wish to worship him, to all who are grateful and would give thanks, to all who hunger for prayer and wish to pray, to all who know sin and need a saviour, the church opens wide its door and in the name of the Lord Jesus bids Welcome.
